What a question!! Is it an important question? Yes, I do believe it is. I believe that God made each of us for a reason. Some of us have no idea what purpose God has for us. Surely He didn't just create us to take up space. Trees, rivers, and other types of landscapes/landmarks do that just fine. No, He took the time to create a human. Someone who can talk, walk, think, and many other amazing feats. I think that He wants us to make a difference in the lives of those around us.
You may be thinking "Well, what can I do?" Granted some people are more creative and outgoing than others. I understand that. I am such an introvert. That is until I get to know someone. Then look out!!!
However, there is SOMETHING that each of us is good at. We just need to find out what that something is and use it. It may be writing a little cheery note, calling a friend to see how they are, or just letting someone know that you are there if they need you. Those few simple things can make a huge difference in someone else's life. Amazingly, in our own lives as well.
Granted it would be easier to not venture out. Especially on our heart strings. When I help, I tend to get involved emotionally as well. I feel things very deeply. Compassion is other people's pain in your heart. To me, truer words have never been spoken. That's exactly what I feel. I try very hard to put myself in the other person's shoes. I think how I would want someone to respond to me. Now, I'm not saying that I always come to the rescue. Absolutely not!!! I need to be shaken up now and then.
God has blessed me with friends that have been there for me in my time of need. I am truly thankful for their help. Most of all, I am thankful for their compassion. They felt my pain in their heart. Just thinking about that has me in tears as I type. I don't think I have the right words to express the gratitude that's in my heart. Thank you ladies!!!!!
So this is just something that I was thinking about this morning. Let's think about some of the people in our lives (past or present) that have made a difference in our lives. I mean a difference in our well being (food, shelter, clothing), our character, our self esteem, things such as that. My mother comes to mind. She always encouraged me to do the best I could do at whatever it was I was doing. No sir!!!!! There was no such thing as half way doing something. Today, I still try my hardest when I set out to do a task. My mother is no longer living, but her words live in me. So, that is my challenge for us today. Let's keep our eyes (and our heart's!!!!) open in order to make a difference in someone else's life today.
